YOUR ROADSMART JOURNEY

We All Started Somewhere
Whether it's the outdoors, the camaraderie, the engineering, the intensity of speed - Motorbikes are addictive and
we know how you feel!
The RoadSmart syllabus is built with this ethos at its core - embedded into our teaching mantra. It's what makes the learning so immersive, and the courses real eye-openers to those who have never experienced the artistry of Roadcraft.
To start on this journey with us, we ask that you have at least your "P" plate, ride a road legal motorcycle of at least 125cc and have a sense of humour! You will then progress through the different levels starting at Foundation Rider, all the way to Advanced Rider Programs.
You will also have to demonstrate on a 2 yearly basis that you are still riding to the standard required of your level in order to retain the benefits and certification you worked so hard to earn.

When you are ready, simply book and pay for your Foundation Course and get the process started on your journey of upgrading your ride!
The basic introductions to the theory and techniques you will need. These include learning about the 4 pillars of Roadscraft, the 5 stages of "The System", observation skills, brake & grip theory, deeper hazard perception and the technique of commentary. You will spend the first part of each day learning the theory, before going out and practising the techniques with your mentor. Your last day will also feature an 'Assessed Ride' where you are marked against a competency matrix - upon passing you will be awarded your Foundation Certificate!
Continuing on from the Foundation learning, we recap on some of the learning theories before moving into more advanced urban techniques, where we focus on filtering, limit point analysis, fastest path analysis, fast road introduction, roundabouts, enhanced observations, and more developed commentary. The course starts to become a bit more intensive, where we also focus on refining the ride a bit more. The final day 'Assessed Ride' will have higher expectations than before, but passing this will award you the Intermediate certification along with associated perks and benefits.
By now you will have a solid understanding of the core concepts of Roadcraft - and be able to demonstrate consistently the techniques used to navigate the roads safely. Advanced Riding draws on all those previous learnings and adds extra elements of riding as a group, defensive riding tactics, fast road drills, and advanced commentary. This will culminate in the 'Assessed Ride' being an intensive 30-minute demonstration of your accumulated skills - scored against an exacting standard of expectation. Achieve this pass, and you will have attained one of the most respected civilian riding qualifications in the world.
Riding at an Advanced level is a diminishing skillset - and requires continual practice to ensure you don't suffer a gap in skills exposing you to an increased risk of being involved in a collision. The 'Check Test' is an important component in your journey that keeps your riding fresh, and mind sharp when you're on the road. To keep your status level current, you must attend and pass this element once every 2 years for your certificate level.
